6 Days safari in Selous & Mikumi

About the parks

Selous is a game reserve covering a huge area south from Dar es Salaam. It is the easiest to reach from Dar es Salaam and offers many activities. For example, in Selous it’s possible to have a boat safari or a walking safari.

Mikumi is also easy to reach from Dar es Salaam. It’s a great park on its own, but can also be combined with Ruaha safari, since it’s on the way to Ruaha if you drive from Dar es Salaam.

Ruaha is a big national park, and its heart is the Ruaha river. This park is well known for its lion population, which can be found almost every time. The drive to Ruaha goes through steep mountain roads which will add to the experience if you decide to go by road.

Saadani is a relatively small national park, but has other benefits others don’t have: it’s by the sea and the beautiful Usambara mountains rise just a short drive away.

Northern Tanzania safaris include the most popular destinations like the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. But there are other amazing destinations such as Lake Manyara National Park with it’s birdlife and Tarangire National Park with lively river-side.

Our Northern Tanzania safaris are all ecosafaris. There is always a possibility to add local village visits and cultural walks to your itinerary. This adds a new perspective to your safari and you can feel good about helping the local community to benefit from safari business. Our safari staff is fully Tanzanian, including the company owner.

About the parks

Serengeti is probably the best known park in the whole Tanzania and even the whole Africa. It’s the site of the yearly migration of the wildebeest. Serengeti offers almost all you can ask for on your safari. In the huge plains all the animals are in plain sight.

Ngorongoro is a conservation area right next to Serengeti. Ngorongoro is the area of a huge crater. It is possible to see almost all African wild animals at the same time, as they all come down in the volcano to drink. Maasai also live and herd their cows in Ngorongoro.

Tarangire is the home of a huge number of elephants. The Tarangire River is the main source of water for the animals during the dry season and it attracts animals from a large area.

Lake Manyara is a national park known for the flamingos inhabiting the lake. In rainy season the lake is an amazing bird-watching destination, but dries up almost entirely during the dry season.
