ABOUT MIKUMI & UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARKS

Nature, wildlife, and culture all in one tour

Mikumi National Park is a large game reserve located in the Morogoro region of Tanzania. It covers a whopping 3,230 km2 and forms a contiguous area with the Selous Game Reserve. The golden grasslands of north-western Mikumi set the stage for a wonderful concentration of mammals, birds, and reptiles, while the impenetrable forests and mountains to the southeast border the vast Selous National Park.

The Mkata plain supports herds of game such as wildebeest, impala, zebra, and giraffe, hunted by their associated predators. In the surrounding areas of fertile hills, you’re likely to find Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, greater kudu, roan, and sable antelope.

The Udzungwa Mountains is a mountain range located in the Eastern Arc Mountains of Tanzania. Stretching over 15,000 km, it is the second-largest mountain range in the area, and home to some of Africa’s most diverse forests. It is also a popular trekking destination, offering breathtaking views and a chance to explore the mountain’s many hidden gems.
