You’ll have the unique opportunity to see giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. natural reserves
Covering 55,000 km2, Selous National Park is one of the world’s largest protected reserves, located in southern Tanzania. It is home to an array of wildlife, including elephants, hippos, antelopes, lions, and cheetahs.
The reserve is also inhabited by several different species of birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Known for its stunning landscapes, Selous National Park features wide-open savannahs and flowing rivers.
Aside from its wildlife, Selous is also famous for its unique historical significance. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1982 and is home to several archaeological sites, including ancient rock paintings.
Selous National Park is a wonderful destination for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and archaeologists alike.
Tour Itinerary
DAY 1
We’ll pick you up at your hotel around 5:30 am and drive you to the Zanzibar Airport for your flight to Selous National Park.
Your driver-guide will meet you at the Mtemere Airstrip and you’ll proceed to the camp for check-in.
After checking in, your guide will take you on your village tour, which includes lunch. Here you’ll learn about everyday life in the village and local customs.
In the afternoon you’ll join a boat safari on the Rufiji River, which will end with a sunset view on the river beach.
DAY 2
After breakfast, you’ll have the choice of joining a full-day game drive or a boat safari. In both cases, we’ll explore the Selous Game Reserve where you’ll have the chance to see lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, and more.
We’ll stop for a picnic lunch at noon. After lunch, we’ll continue with your safari until late afternoon, when we’ll drive back to your lodge for a hearty dinner.
DAY 3
After an early breakfast, we’ll take you on a walking safari tour with a local expert guide and an experienced ranger.
On this tour, you’ll be in direct contact will native flora and fauna, learning about medicinal plants, endemic creatures, and the history of the region from a local bushman.
After the 3-hour long tour, we’ll drive you to the Mtemere Airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar.
