Zanzibar is a unique destination. It has amazing nature, both on land and underwater. It has white sand beaches and turquoise waters. But it is also a cultural destination, with a long history and a distinctive Swahili culture with its cuisine, music, and traditions.
Everyone will experience Zanzibar differently. Some love the tranquil beach life, others the labyrinthine streets of Stone Town. What makes the destination unique is the relaxed mixture of local village life, urban historical sites, and a friendly environment for visitors.
Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the heart of Zanzibar’s cultural life. It is also a great shopping destination with restaurants to choose from for every taste.
Most Zanzibaris don’t live in Stone Town or the city but in the villages. If you want to learn about rural life, you are welcome to walk the village streets or join a dedicated tour.
Visit to the famous spice farms is almost a must, as they gave Zanzibar its nickname, the “Spice Island.” And if you want to snorkel the coral reefs, or sail to the sunset, the Indian Ocean will host you.
Tour Itinerary
DAY 1
We’ll meet you at the Zanzibar Airport and drive you to Paje village. You’ll check in at the Mahali Zanzibar Hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at the beach.
DAY 2
This is your relaxing day. You’ll be free to have some fun at the beach, go for a walk along the coast, or swim and snorkel in the sea.
Paje is a beautiful beach resort that offers its visitors a wide wide array of activities to choose from and lots of fun clubs and local bars to enjoy in the evening.
DAY 3
The program for this day is a full-day cruise on a traditional dhow boat. This magical journey will take you on an exploration of the Indian Ocean from Fumba fishing village to the Menai Bay conservation area.
The day includes snorkeling at a sandbank, swimming, relaxing, exploring Kwale Island, and a seafood buffet.
DAY 4
Another relaxing day for you. You can spend some time on your own, walk along the white-sand beaches and swim in the Indian Ocean.
DAY 5
On this day we’ll explore Stone Town. Your guide will take you on a historical and cultural journey through the old slave market, the Darajani marketplace, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace.
In the afternoon, we’ll take you on a culinary tour where you’ll learn to prepare a traditional local dish.
DAY 6
One more day of relaxation. By this time, you are well acquainted with the village and you can get in some last-minute shopping and beach relaxing.
We highly recommend waking up for sunrise at 6 am, it’s worth it!
DAY 7
Depending on the time of your onward flight, there might still be an opportunity to enjoy breakfast and a morning swim before heading back to the airport.
Your driver-guide will be waiting for you at the agreed time to take you to the airport or to the ferry port.
