ABOUT THE TOUR
Explore, learn
new skills, make
incredible memories
Pemba has a long history, preserved in the 11th-century ruins of an old town just beyond the village of Mjini Ole. Pieces of Persian and Chinese ceramics can still be found in the ground, along with fragments of ancient human and animal bones.
On this unique Pemba tour, you’ll get to choose exactly what you want to do on this fascinating, historic island.
You could join a cooking lesson and learn to prepare traditional dishes, witness how local handicrafts are made, or join the fishermen for some sea fishing.
In Mjini Ole’s local conservation area, you have the unique chance to see Pemba flying foxes, the world’s biggest fruit bats, in their natural habitat. A nearby mangrove forest can be visited on foot or by boat. Or you could learn about the Kidike project, which is planting more forests to prevent erosion.
You can choose which of these activities you want to experience, for one of the best memories of your stay in Zanzibar! The trip includes lunch in a local home.
